Wheel of Time Moments I’m Most Excited to See Adapted

Firstly, I’m not sure there’s a part of The Wheel of Time series I’m NOT excited to see translated onto our screens. That being said, there were definitely moments throughout my first read through of the epic tale that had me thinking “Now THIS would be cool to see.”

Here are some of those moments, ranked chronologically more than anything else.

A few disclaimers before we begin. This list assumes the TV series will make it all the way to the end of Jordan’s written series, and stay relatively true to the source (understanding this is all-but impossible – but hey, a man can dream). As such, there will be spoilers throughout.

Let’s dive in!

Battling the Seanchan at Falme

The chapters that span the encounter at Falme have everything. Protagonists being reunited? Check. A Darkfriend redeeming himself? Check. The blowing of the flaming Horn of Valere? Check!

It also had a clash between large forces of the invading Seanchan and the heroes of old that saw the former pushed back into the sea. Oh, AND Rand fighting high in the sky.

All told, I’m very excited to see how this translates from page to screen.

Cleansing Saidin

Jumping quite far ahead here, I think we have a moment from the books everyone will be looking forward to seeing on the screen.

Rand’s lunge to save male channelers delivers an epic encounter between the ‘good guys’ and the ‘bad guys’. Not only that, but it is also one of those instances from the books the repercussions of which are felt and seen across the world.

Seeing such a display of the One Power will something to behold.

The Storm

Yet another moment from TGS here, and this one might be the oddest of the bunch. Something about the opening to the twelfth book of The Wheel of Time always captures my attention.

I can’t wait to see those massive roiling clouds tumbling across the land and feel its ominous energy exuding from the TV.

Natrin’s Barrow

I swear The Gathering Storm wasn’t the only book I read! That said, it does seem to contain a bulk of the moments that immediately jump to my mind as ones I can’t wait to see on the screen.

The events at Natrin’s Barrow, brief as they were, really captured my imagination when it comes to an onscreen portrayal. I picture a beam of power streaking over a rugged and remote countryside shrouded by night and striking the far-off fortification with Pattern-unravelling force.

It will be a great moment to highlight the destructive power Rand possesses.

Egwene’s Defence of the White Tower

The Battle of Tar Valon offers so much when it comes to an onscreen adaptation.

Cutting back and forth from Egwene and the other Aes Sedai fighting off the aerial assault to those battling far below, Egwene flexing her leadership while Elaida crumbles and is carried off, sneaky assassins lurking in the dark hallways of the White Tower—the show can approach it all in so many ways. Done right and it will provide a lot of shock value I think.

Rand’s Descent from Dragonmount

A pivotal moment in Rand’s arc, his descent from the broken testament to his forebearer’s destruction had me so pumped on my first read through. He’s finally come to grips with himself, finding peace and healing the land as he goes.

It is just an epic savior moment that sets the stage for the final conflict to come.

The Last Battle

Lastly (but certainly not leastly) we have the moments that had us sobbing into the pages of A Memory of Light and will almost definitely have us sobbing on our couches as we watch the final season of the show.

In fact, there is enough going on in the last battle for the showrunners to make an entire season out of just that one chapter! I won’t get into many spoilers here but I can’t wait to see how they adapt this epic conflict spanning multiple fronts and told from a plethora of POVs.

What are you most looking forward to seeing adapted from Jordan’s work? Any of these? Something else entirely? Let me know!
